Organic, fresh island food.

HALE KAI
(HOUSE OF THE OCEAN)

A remote, tropical sanctuary Hale Kai is located on the south Kona coast of the Big Island of Hawaii. Hale Kai is a beautiful acre of oceanfront wonder nestled in the exotic beauty of ancient Hawaii.

Allow for deeply relaxing and connecting to the body, mind and spirit. Sleep to the sounds of the sea and awaken to  tropical birds. Sway in hammocks beneath the rustling palms and coconut trees. Lounge, read, relax, and visit with friends in the ocean front lanai. Humpback whales frequent the waters which are home to a variety of unique fish, coral, sea turtles and dolphins.

Guest rooms are traditional Balinese-style constructed of hardwoods and bamboo. A unique and magical taste of old Hawaii, Polynesian style.

Limited to 15 participants, all levels welcome!

THE YOGA SPACE

Yoga, pranayama and meditation are practiced in a round, open air studio overlooking the vast blue Pacific water. Exploration of yoga and self are enhanced by the natural beauty, birdlife and humpback whale sightings during practice.
The open yoga space is surrounded by a large lanai with chairs, couches, a day bed and hammocks that provide gathering space for socializing, lounging and napping.

ACTIVITIES

A few steps from the beach, there is ample space and time to swim and snorkel in crystalline waters or lounge in the warm sand.

Optional excursions may include: Visits to petroglyph sites, Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, Pu’u Honua o’ Honaunau City of Refuge, hikes and waterfalls. Shared rental cars or a shuttle are provided for transportation.

FRESH ORGANIC ISLAND MEALS

Tropical fruit, vegetables, and fish make for healthy and healing meals cooked with care and love. The Hale Kai staff provides three delicious meals a day sourced as much as possible from local farms and fishermen. They are full of the Aloha welcome!

ACCOMMODATIONS

Resembling Bali in its architecture and gardens, the retreat has been designed and built over the years through inspiration from many years of travel to Bali and Peru. Teak, ironwood, bamboo, and coconut structures support this lifestyle. Authentic furniture and woodworking, as well as stone statues and ponds are works of art which evoke a sense of peace, inspiration, and creativity.
It’s as if one has flown half-way around the world and  landed in a remote village in South East Asia.
Hale Kai has been called exotic, comfortable, homey, and luxuriously rustic.

GUEST ROOMS

The guest rooms are spacious Balinese architecture surrounded by lush tropical gardens, giving direct contact with the sounds and fragrances of Mother Nature. Spaced apart from each other, they each have their own ambience.
Most of the rooms are double occupancy.
As this is an off-the-grid property running on solar power, many of the showers are ambient, their water heated by the sun as it makes its way down the hill from the water source.
